On the painting
How many bodies there are within the white heap cannot be counted; an arm rises, a leg hangs from beneath it, in the middle two rounds resembling a chest overlap, and it is unclear whose limb ends where. The one who helps and the one helped melt into the same mass.
Description of the image
A large white and pale blue mass of overlapping rounded units fills the upper two thirds over a black support, crossed by orange and ochre streaks and short yellow-green dashes. Two pale discs sit near its top; a separate white ovoid marked with two orange crosses floats at the upper right corner. Three small red and orange figures stand in a row along the bottom edge, arms extended so their hands meet, each with a round head bearing two white X marks and short white strokes below. Two white crosses appear at the lower right. Bare black shows at every edge.
